How Do We Use Donations?

Your donations are used for a variety of activities, complementing provided by the Fire Department.

  • Helping fallen Carlisle firefighter/EMTs - When our members are hurt, the CFRA provides them with relief to help them through this difficult time.

  • Education - the CFRA supports educational needs for Firefighters.  For example, allowing firefighters to attend EMT or Critical Trauma Care classes.

  • Community Events - the CFRA funds events such as open-houses and wash-a-fire truck.  These events are fun for everyone, and we also take time to provide fire education to attendees, such as on using fire extinguishers, escape plans and how to call for help.

  • Uniforms - the CFRA pays for Class A uniforms for its members, which are not purchased by the Fire Department.

  • Retirements - the CFRA provides a small (one-time; not reoccurring) retirement stipend for members with at least 10 years of service to the Fire Department, and membership on the CFRA.  The Fire Department does not provide a retirement benefit.

  • Carlisle Fire Victims - the CFRA helps Carlisle families that experience fires in their own homes.  Typically within 24hrs, relief funds are provided that can be used for damage restoration.

Examples of How Donations Have Been Spent

CFRA funds have been used to help firefighters who were injured while performing duties as Carlisle Firefighters.  One-time stipends are also provided to Firefighters and EMTs who retire from the Fire Department. Several recent retirements have had 30, 40, and even 50 years of dedication to the community in the Fire Service.

On several occasions, the CFRA was able to provide relief to Carlisle families who experienced fires in their homes.  These funds can be used to quickly get contractors to cover roofs, re-establish electrical service, or repair heating systems so the homes can be made safe, particularly in the winter.
